Dr. Toyoda moved to the United States from Osaka, Japan at the age of seven. At the time, Oksana was the “sister city” to Rapid City. She grew up in Rapid City and attended Stevens High School. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
She completed medical school at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, after which she trained at a family medicine residency in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she was elected to be chief resident during her last year. Dr. Toyoda purposely delayed her job search during residency and ultimately chose Rapid City Medical Center because it “felt right.” She says, “The doctors at Medical Arts were the ones who cared for my mom and me as I grew up. I remember their genuineness and concern. Now, I want to be that doctor for others.”
Dr. Toyoda loves family medicine for a multitude of reasons including taking care of patients of all ages and forming long-lasting bonds with her patients. Her hobbies include singing, drawing, painting, jewelry-making, and travelling.
