KKelts 500x500 1

Kay Kelts, DO

From the inaugural class at Rocky Vista University to the heart of Rapid City, Dr. Kay Kelts’ journey in medicine is anything but ordinary. While mastering osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) as a pre-doctoral fellow, she met her future husband, Dr. Andrew Kelts, during their undergraduate years at St. Olaf College.

Her medical passport is stamped with diverse experiences – from the bustling Chicago suburbs to the serene landscapes of upstate New York. She’s done it all: delivering babies, treating hospital patients, caring for nursing home residents, helping those struggling with addiction, and mentoring the next generation of doctors.

As a board-certified family physician, Dr. Kelts brings her whole-person philosophy to every patient interaction. Whether she’s performing in-office procedures, providing women’s health services, or practicing OMM, her goal remains the same: helping patients write their own definition of a healthy, fulfilling life.

When the work is done, you’ll find her exploring the outdoors with her three children, experimenting in the kitchen, or planning the family’s next adventure. Following her husband’s completion of his GI fellowship, they chose to plant roots in his hometown of Rapid City – adding another chapter to their story of medicine, family, and community.

Goodhope 500x500 1

Michael Goodhope, DO

Dr. Goodhope attended medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO, followed by an internship and residency in family medicine at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI. After completing residency training in 2003, he joined the United States Air Force and remained on active duty until 2008. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2007 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He joined Rapid City Medical Center’s Family Medicine Department in 2010.

An osteopathic doctor (DO) is a fully licensed physician trained in a comprehensive approach to treating patients. Rather than addressing specific symptoms or illnesses, they look at the underlying causes of disease and the overall picture of a patient’s health to help them achieve and maintain a healthy life.

His father, a retired internal medicine physician, had a significant influence on his decision to practice medicine. Initially studying physical therapy, he ultimately decided osteopathic family medicine would allow him to help patients in the way he wanted to practice.

In his free time, he enjoys biking, skiing, hiking, gardening and spending time with his children.
