Our History

Physician owned since 1948

Rapid City Medical Center is a medical practice comprised of six locations, including an urgent care clinic, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Our group boasts a team of more than eighty physicians and caregivers whose specialties include allergy, asthma and immunology, dermatology, ENT (including audiology), family medicine, gastroenterology, internal medicine, OB/GYN, eye care, pediatrics, podiatry, rheumatology, surgery, urgent care, interventional pain and more.

Rapid City Medical Center was established in 1948 as a physician-owned practice and has since built an on-going tradition of excellence in healthcare.

The purpose and aim of this organization….

Original Articles of Association May 1, 1948

“…shall be to enable its members to unite their efforts for the more effectual practice of Medicine and Surgery than can be accomplished by individual practice; for the establishment, maintenance and operation of medical and surgical services and treatments including clinical, pathological, x-ray and laboratory services; for the care and treatment of those in need of medical, surgical and other related aid or attention; for affording gratuitous administrations to the indigent and distressed; and also to afford instruction and opportunity for research in all branches of Medicine and Surgery.”
