Dr. Childers obtained her undergraduate degree from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, where she ran cross country and track for four years. She then attended medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kirksville, Missouri. There she met her husband, an Internist who currently practices at the VA in Fort Meade. They went to residency together in Akron, Ohio, before moving west to Spearfish, South Dakota.
In her practice as a family medicine physician, she focuses on treating the whole family unit—mom, dad and kids. She is also very interested in preventative medicine and using exercise, diet and medicine together to prevent the spread or onset of disease.
Her family likes to stay very active. She and her husband have three daughters and one son, all of whom are involved in sports at a collegiate and high school level. As a family, they enjoy hiking, camping and CrossFit training.
