As part of our continued effort to offer ground-breaking health treatments to women of South Dakota, we are now offer Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments for both facial and vaginal rejuvenation. This simple but clinically effective in-office procedure uses components of patient's own blood to naturally promote the production of collagen and growth factors to the treated area.

This non-invasive treatment is organic. A small amount of the patient's blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge where the plasma is separated from the red blood cells. Then the platelet serum is activated and injected or applied to the treatment area. PRP is used on its own or in addition to EndyMed Intensif (microneedling) or MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser in both the gynecology and dermatology departments.

Specific to dermatology, PRP treatments are perfect for patients of any age or skin tone. The treatment has been shown to have overall therapeutic effects and naturally improves skin texture, thickness and tone. Additionally, by inducing the production of collagen and elastin, it helps the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles without the use of synthetic fillers. When used for hair loss, it has been shown to increase density of the hair by 30 to 40 percent and to stimulate regrowth.

Platelets are the body's tool to heal and regenerate cells. When used on your skin the serum kick-starts natural collagen production and helps regrow new tissue. This treatment has also shown benefits for stretch marks, scarring, including acne scarring and crepey skin.

"We are excited to offer this innovative technology to our patients. This cutting-edge treatment allows us to enhance the results of skin rejuvenation procedures and offers a medication-free alternative for hair loss in both men and women," says Dr. Tamera Poling, dermatologist at Rapid City Medical Center.

For gynecologic patients suffering from low libido, vaginal relaxation and discomfort during intercourse PRP naturally enhances these delicate tissues to improve the quality of a woman's sexual response. The Platelet Rich Plasma Intimacy Injection is carefully injected into symptomatic areas restoring suppleness, increasing natural lubrication and improving arousal.

"Finally, we are able to offer multiple non-hormonal options to women to improve both comfort and desire for their most intimate moments," says Dr. Beshara, gynecologist at Rapid City Medical Center.

A range of PRP treatment options will be offered by request through both the gynecology and dermatology departments.
