The Rapid City Medical Center and opens in a new windowThe Endoscopy Center will host the Second Annual Bottoms Up for Colon Cancer 5K run/walk on Saturday, March 31.
The event, which aims to increase colon cancer awareness, will raise money for opens in a new windowearly detection and prevention. Again this year all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s initiative to increase screening rates to 80% by the end of this year. By meeting our fundraising goal, together, we can help prevent 277,000 new cases of colon cancer and 203,000 deaths within the next 20 years.
Last year we were able to almost double our goal of $5,000 by raising $9,395.92. This year we are setting out to hit that $10,000 mark. The proceeds will benefit the local American Cancer Society and promote early screening and prevention of colon cancer.
The race will start and finish at Founders Park in Rapid City. Registration will open at 10:00 a.m. and the race will begin at 11:00 a.m. Registration fee for all participants on race day is $25.
