Cosmetic Procedure Trends to Watch for in 2019

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, minimally invasive cosmetic procedures have grown 200 percent since 2000. Rapid City Medical Center is dedicated to staying on top of these advancements in technology and research to meet the needs of our patients. Here our team of board-certified plastic surgeons and dermatologists weigh in on the procedures they feel will be most popular in 2019.

BREAST REDUCTIONS

Over the past decade, breast implants were the most asked for plastic surgery procedures. However, today the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that breast reductions are at an all-time high. Whether the desire for a reduction is based on cosmetic reason or comfort a breast reduction is not as complex as you might think.

“This procedure greatly improves patients comfort and shape.  These are some of the happiest patients I have,” says Dr. Robert Schutz plastic surgeon at Rapid City Medical Center.

If you think breast reduction is right for you, call 343-7208 to schedule a consult with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons.

BOTOX AND DERMAL FILLERS AS PREVENTION

Botox is by far one of the most common non-invasive cosmetic procedures. But for years has been seen as a way to do away with wrinkles. Recent trends show younger patients using Botox and dermal fillers as a preventative measure to stop wrinkles before they form. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Botox procedures have seen a 28 percent increase and dermal fillers have seen a 32 percent increase since 2010 among the age group 20 to 29. These procedures are so popular because they can be used in a variety of ways.

NON-INVASIVE BODY CONTOURING

Since 2017 body contouring treatments have been on the rise. The American Society of Plastic Surgery reports over 17.5 million minimally invasive and surgical procedures were done in the United States. In 2019 we expect patients to look for complete body contouring treatments that can eliminate stubborn fat, tighten skin and eliminate cellulite with no downtime.

PRP

What was once a treatment limited to heart surgery, sports medicine and wound care has become one of the newest cosmetic procedures. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) consists of taking a small sample of the patient’s own blood and processing it in order to release various growth factors from platelets. PRP has been used combined with microneedling to improve the volume, texture and tone of facial skin and decrease the appearance of wrinkles. This cutting-edge treatment allows us to enhance the results of skin rejuvenation procedures. If you are interested in learning more about PRP treatments call 721-6678 to schedule a consult with one of our board-certified dermatologists.

NATURAL-LOOKING FEATURES

2019 will find the days of overdone procedures and exaggerated features coming to an end. Today patients are looking for procedures that no longer look obvious. They want to protect their own natural features. These micro-optimizations are making them feel more confident inside their own skin without being completely obvious.
