Gary Welsh, MD
I grew up in Wall, South Dakota, and retired from Wall Drug in eighth grade. I had worked at the famous tourist stop since second grade, and prior to that I had a job sacking potatoes at the local grocery store. I have been working for a very long time.
I went to the University of South Dakota back when it was a two-year medical school and finished at the University of Texas in San Antonio. I did a rotating internship at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, went into family medicine, and stayed in Sioux Falls to practice for two years before returning to the Black Hills. I was with Medical Arts for ten years, then had my own private practice for ten years, and joined Rapid City Medical Center in 1997. I am board certified in urgent care medicine and have been in Rapid City Medical Center’s Urgent Care Department for eighteen years.
In my spare time, I enjoy working with the Rush hockey team and the U.S. Ski Team. I have traveled with the Mogul Team to Chile, Finland, Winter Park and Calgary, Alberta. I also sing classical and barbershop music and help in the church choir when I can. The rest of my time is spent with my twelve grandchildren.
